Photo of my paternal grandparents: Henry Edgar Blackwell & his wife Eliza Ann Dixey.
The Blackwell family originated near Chelmsford, Essex, but moved to Blackheath in 1892. They subsequently emigrated to Canada in 1907, settling near Dinsmore in Saskatchewan. My father returned to England and married in 1938.
The Blackwell and Dixey family trees have been researched by my cousin
Stanley Blackwell who privately published his findings in "Our Blackwell and Dixey Ancestors" (1998). This research was conducted over many years before computerised and internet facilities were available, and involved considerable personal effort and expense. Recently, Stanley has agreed that I should make the main genealogical information from this book available on the Internet. The following items are now available via this webpage:
Please note that all of the above items include an entry for a "Root Ancestor". This is not a real person, but is a convenience to overcome a shortcoming in the genealogy database program (PAF5) used to produce the items.
Like most similar programs, it will not generate descendancy reports or charts from multiple family roots. Therefore, I have created a Root Ancestor whose "adopted" sons are the oldest generation in each family.
