Memoirs of a Nonagenarian by Frances Blackwell

This short book Memoirs of a Nonagenarian was written a couple of years ago by my mother, at my urging, to provide a record for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born 95 years ago in North Boarhunt, Hampshire, and was brought up in the nearby villages of Soberton and Portchester.

The book deals with her early childhood and later school years, village customs, and life in service between the wars. It includes her experiences of both World War I (in which her father was killed) and World War II (when she was married with young children). It includes several photos.

Although principally intended for her family and friends, the book is a social document of life in the first half of the twentieth century and may be of interest to others. You may read the book online, or download and save it for printing, by clicking on the link above.

The book is held as a PDF file size 590 KB. It has 33 A4 pages. Access is free, but all rights are retained by Frances Blackwell.
